Da Lat Waterfalls

1. Prenn Waterfall
Prenn was the border after these fights (from Prenn to Don Duong, Phan Rang it was the land of the K’Ho and the Ma). The waterfall is 8m high, it falls from the high rock above. So, if you stand at the bottom of the waterfall and look up, it is like the waterfall down from the sky and Saigon people call it Tien Sa (rain drops from the sky).


From 1998 till now, Prenn Waterfall has been strongly interesting so it has been popular sight in Dalat. In the waterfall surrounding, there is a traditional bridge, a pool for crocodiles, and some wildlife such as bears, crocodiles and rubber dinghies. Prenn waterfall sight has a well-known food that is fish soup. The fish is boneless, cooked with rice, served with mustard which makes an unforgettable taste for visitors in Vietnam travel. Just with a small amount of money, 4 to 6 people can enjoy a fish soup course beside the waterfall.
2. Hang Cop Waterfall
The waterfall is located in Xuan Tho Commune, Dalat city, in National road 20. Take a turning at the km-post No.13 and keep going around 2.7 km, you will see the waterfall.
In 1950, the place was a deep forest with plenty of wild animals, of which the fiercest animals are tigers "Lords of forest". There was a big tiger which often lived in a cave close to the waterfall. At that time a local hunter tried to kill the tiger, but it did not die; it just got injured in one leg so it became fiercer and fiercer, screaming destroying the surrounding area and then it went away from the cave. Since then, people gave the name Tiger to the waterfall. At the flower garden of the site, tourists can see a big statue of a tiger and a family of tigers around a big mushroom. We can also see a statue of a brave man in a proud posture which reminds us of the then hunter.


The waterfall has 25m in height and 10m in width. At the foot of the waterfall, the flow of waterfalls down strongly, making the dense mist covering the area. The white water then follows the rocks and flows into the primitive forest.
3. Pongour Waterfall
Taking National Road 20, which links Hồ Chí Minh City to Đà Lạt City, crossing Đại Ninh Bridge, tourists turn left at Trung Hamlet, Đức Trọng District, going ahead about 7 kilometers and then Pongour Waterfall is at their sight. The entrance road has been partly upgraded by Đất Nam Company and, though not yet perfect, may offers tourists an easy access of the waterfall.



Located 20 kilometers from district center and 50 kilometers from Đà Lạt, Pongour is the most majestic waterfall in the Southwest Highland jungles. From 30 meters above, the massive water speeds and booms down 7 floors into a big pool, creating sonorous thunder-like sounds, especially in the raining season it is more violent and truculent in fanciful dew.
Pongour is transcribed by French people from K’Ho language. It means the landlord of a white-clay area. According to French geological documents, this area has lots of kaolin.
Pougour is the only waterfall where an ethnic festival takes place. Every year, on the full moon day of the first lunar month, refined beautiful young people of every ethnic group gather for a spring pilgrimage, climb up the waterfall floors in a desire for eternal Elysium. This is a chance for better mutual understanding and love between one and the other.
4. Datanla Waterfall
Half way to Prenn Pass, 5 kilometers from DaLat, Datanla Waterfall is not so imposing or tumultuous as some others in Dalat but it exerts an extraordinary attraction to adventurers. Datanla or Datania is a word compound in K’Ho language, ‘Đà – Tàm-N’ha’, meaning ‘water under the leaves’ – related to the war of Chăm, Lạt, Chil in the 15th-17th centuries.


Turning off national Road 20, down a slope of about 300 meters into a smallvalley, tourists can see Datanla waterfall with a wild and attractive landscape. Water falls down from 20 meters above, worms through many steps of rock-slits, and then hides itself inside the jungle, flowing alternatively in and out of sight, challenging tourists’ curiosity. There are beautiful and glossy rock slabs where fairies from heaven legendarily used to bathe and get amused; therefore it is also called Fairy Stream.

Going farther down, tourists are soon in front of an immeasurably deep chasm, called ’Death Chasm’. This is a rather dangerous place where accidents easily happen. Unless guided by professionals and equipped with safety devices, tourists should not recklessly explore the mysteries of Death Chasm at Datanla.
5. Dambri Waterfall
Location: Dambri Waterfall is located 18km from the centre of Bao Loc Town, Lam Dong Province.
Characteristics: The climate around Dambri Waterfall is cool all year round. This is a huge waterfall in Lam Dong Province.
On the way to Ho Chi Minh City, visitors can stop by Bao Loc, the land of tea, coffee and mulberry


Dambri Waterfall are surrounded by hills of mulberry, tea, and palm trees. Visitors can also enjoy a cruise on the clear lake.
6. Gougah Waterfall
Gougah waterfall is located in Duc Trong district, Lam Dong province. It is known from the poem of local people. There is an outing tourism area here where creates more advantages for tourists.


According to the language of K’ho people who live around this waterfall, Gougah means “wood cage”. The visitors come here often call it O Ga waterfall (pot-hole waterfall). The reason for this name is that the water line in this waterfall often separated into two: one line is red, one line has spumes around which look like a separated egg.
Gougah waterfall is related to the legend of Nafbiut queen (Vietnamese woman chosen by Champak king to marry him. When he was failed in the battle, queen and the followers come to the waterfall to settle. Some local people averted to say that Nafbiut is the Princess of the King in Tran dynasty.
Gougah is created by Da Nhim, which flows along the Tung Nghia Township. Coming to Phu Hoi commune, it meets the crack of mountain and flow down in the height of 30m. The way down to the waterfall is created and made with stairs to make it easier than it wildly was. If visitors have time, they could go camping or take part in the climbing with string in this area.
